The coiled leash is a popular option, especially for SUP racing. A leash dragging in the water creates resistance. The coiled leash stops the leash entering the water. The knee cuff is positioned just below the knee and attaches to the back of the board. This allows the leash to be off the board, so when stepping back on the board to buoy turn, there’s less chance of stepping onto the leash.
A coiled leash is not recommended for SUP Surfing – a longer leash is required to create more distance from the board for safety, in the case of a wipe out.
